I have started my first lace project. Its the Clementine Shawl from the latest IK. (I really only bought it for the entrelac socks but it has lots of cute things in it) I did omit the first small triangle on either side. Its coming along slowly and I will post when its long enough to look nice. I am using the Sea Silk I recieved from my scarf pal.

I also ordered some lace weight yarn from the destash blog which I am severely addicted to. Its lavender which is not going to be for me whenever I get around to knitting it, maybe Nan.

I am still working on the little jacket from Romantic Knits. I have to sew on the collar and the remaining lace trim around the entire piece. I need to get that finished soon since we have been having fabulous weather down here. I did seam it wrong, so the right side is a knit side not the purl side but I am not redo-ing the entire seaming just because I am an idiot.

Other than that I am crocheting a couple of things to put on etsy. St Pats is rapidly approaching and I have to find some lime Rit dye for my dress that I bought that is white and hopelessly sheer. Oh and a little thing called March Madness will be taking up alot of my time.

I cannot locate my camera but I will post pics of the Jaywalkers I finally finished.

Its been a really long time

Wow it really has been a long time. Alot has happened. I started back at school this semester and I am still trying to get in 30+ hours at the pharmacy.

I have not finished those Jaywalkers but I am this close. I just have to stitch up the rest of the toe and all the ends. I think there is 5 ends to tuck in.

I started a sweater from Romantic Style, the short short bed jacket also in cream. I think I should have started the collar first since it has taken me almost as long as the sweater itself to knit. I will post that pic when I actually get the collar done and the sweater sewn together. I still have to do the trimming. I was hoping to have it done by this weekend so maybe fully completed by next weekend. I also have made a couple of the crocheted belts in the same book. Those need finishing as well.

I also got a package from my International Scarf Pal, she was unable to finish a scarf so she sent me all kinds of goodies including bamboo circulars, a brown skein of Handmaiden Sea Silk and 3 balls of a cashmere blend blue yarn. Love it all! I really can't wait to start knitting with it.

Oh and look at what I found at Red Needle. The 1st Rowan. Vintage. I l-o-v-e it!!

Tomorrow night is the big basketball game and I am going to watch the game downtown with this guy I met last month. I don't think he realizes how big of a fan I am. I guess he will find out.

Other than that I am trying to get back my sock knitting mojo. I just haven't felt like starting another pair. I feel like I am betraying my knitting.

Heres a pic of some earrings that I made out of leftovers I think that they are a tad too big but love them anyways.

Still Knitting...

Heres a pair of socks for myself that I have been working on.... I'm almost done. I think its Regia Sassy Stripes or something but I guess it doesn't matter. I love this Jaywalker pattern.

Here's a clutch that I finished this weekend. Its going to be felted and hopefully it felts well. If it turns out okay it will be given to Hill complete with a zipper. Its a little larger than the other clutches that I have made so I feel that a zipper is necessary.

I'm waiting on a couple of books to come in that I have ordered from the destash blog. I'm really excited about the Knitting Nature. I have been looking at it everytime I go to Barnes and Noble. I am also still waiting on my scarf from the scarf exchange. I haven't heard anything from her in a while and was told that there was some circumstance. So I really have no idea whether or not I will be getting a scarf from the exchange. Well my scarf pal likes her scarf which is important of course. I am however super excited about the sockapalooza starting after the new year. I also got a spot held for me with the Blue Moon sock club that they due which I haven't done yet.

I still haven't finished Christmas shopping and will be going to the outlets on Sunday with Heather to finish up Dads presents. I am planning on buying Hill some Birkenstocks since I can't find a nice pair of boots for her.

I also still have to knit out like 90 dish/washcloths for Christmas, including a set for my secret santa at work. She's elderly and she should enjoy them I think.

I'll post pics whenever I get something finished...

Ta-da!!

Here are some late! postings of my scarf. I finished them last night and tucked in all the ends this morning. I was lazy and didn't take off my socks that I was already wearing.

I have started some Jaywalkers and am working on some entrelac clutches. I have already knitted the piece just have to do all the zipper junk.

I feel overwhelmed with Christmas already. I guess because I normally don't wait this long to start and only have a few things to buy during December. Let the panic ensue. I'm going to the outlets the weekend after next to try and get some things. I found a shirtdress and cabled sweatercoat from BR for $3 and $30 respectively. I love sales!!

I'm not that talented, I just practice frequently...

Here is my latest scarf endeavor...Entrelac...in very preppy colors. My dad has asked me every night I have worked on this.."Are you sure its going to be a scarf. With those colors?" Well its not for him and I am trying really hard to finish this and the socks before we go to Chapel Hill on Wednesday. Another progress shot....

And heres the latest socks--one is slightly pooling and I have finished the heel flaps. Again, trying to finish before Nov 1st. Cross your fingers...hahaha

And my scarf pal got her scarf and said that she loves it!! Thank God. These things always make me nervous. My scarf should be on its way soon--I'm excited, I love getting things in the mail, well, besides bills.

I'm going to Chapel Hill on Wednesday to see a game which I still don't have tickets for yet. So I am calling tomorrow morning on my way to work to see why they haven't come in yet. I talked to some girl at the office on Friday afternoon who told me to "like wait to see if they come on Saturday, then if not call back." Well she obviously didn't understand that the game is on this Wednesday. Other than that I can't wait to go up there. I love it up there!

I'll post again probably on Friday with pics with me wearing a finished scarf and socks!!

I should really post more often...

Here is the scarf that I knit for the International Scarf Exchange. I sent it last Thursday and it went to Australia so it should be there in another week.

Here are all the goddamn ends I had to weave in. I know it was worth it. Plus the entrelac scarf I will be making for myself will have many more ends to weave in.

I have FINALLY finished the mauve horizontal herringbone scarf and just have to weave ends in. I think that I am also going to put a border of cream on it because the cast off edge is way too stretched even though I went down a needle size. Ugggh!!

I have chosen to frog my red rib and cable socks since I recieved red cabled goodness from my Sockapaloooza pal. It was actually quite chilly for the SAV last weekend and I wore socks. I am still churning along on my mottled brown socks. I have finished calf shaping I guess. I really have no idea how these will turn out. I'm making up the pattern as I go. Hopefully it won't be a mistake. I have also churned out more washcloths. Effortless, yet the most fantastic gift. A simple handknit so people will think that you really thought of them.

I am getting ready for basketball season. I have been inhaling projections and will be in Chapel Hill for the opening exhibiton game on Nov 1. I can't wait. The anticipation is really building here. I also hope that the Cardinals win and go to the World Series. One of their closers is a local and played in the local elite league. I think that Wainwright is the first and most famous of all the Chain boys that have been drafted.

I am also really focused on knitting home items. Like pillowcases and throws. I am wondering about the Knitpicks new yarn package for throws. I think that I would make Hill one in green or something. Maybe I should just make it in Peaches n Cream since its machine washable and I'm planning on making one for myself.

Well I have a ton of errands to run and have to head out to AASU to get readmitted for Spring...

Quickie

I haven't been knitting much. Or I should say accomplished much of what I had hoped in knitting.

I have started my scarf for the International Scarf Exchange and have gotten wind that my scarf has been started as well. I don't have any pics but its purple, 2 shades of Nature's Wool, and ENTRELAC. I hope the color combo is going to look okay--I will determine this when I finish a repeat of the color pattern that I have planned. So far I think it will look fine but my sister is looking at it weird.

I will be starting my cotton entrelac scarf in cream, navy, and green hopefully this weekend while on the way to Atlanta for the Tom Petty concert. I can't wait and should actually be cleaning out my car instead of posting.

I'll post pics when I get back to Savannah or on Thursday since I don't have to work!

My cotton obsessions

Here is the absolute LAST time I will be starting over this yarn for socks. I had started them toe up in the round using a pattern that I had found via the internet. Lets just say that BOTH, yes BOTH, times after I finished the heel and tried them on the heel looked like crap. I couldn't even take a picture I was so disgusted. It was a horrible bubbled object. I tried it twice because the first time the foot was way too long and the second time I went down a sock size to see if it was the sizing. It wasn't and I will not try another toe up pattern unless its in a book published and it looks amazing. So far I have just gotten to the ribbing and these will be stockinette socks since the colorway is so mottled.

Here are some washcloths I have finished. The green one is for Hillaire, the tan for my grandmother, and the blue ones are just some that I have made that will end up as gifts for the holidays or a birthday or something. I will be making many washcloths in the tan especially since I just bought a cone of it and most of them will go to my grandmother and some will go to my neighbor and some for Christmas gifts. I think my neighbor will really enjoy them. I also know that she'll appreciate them. I babysit her son occasionally and she always gives me accessories.

This is a scarf I have been working on for a while. Its left over skeins from that tank that I made from IK that I still have yet to take to get altered. Still I am almost finished it which is good since I have a scarf pal to start knitting for as soon as I find the yarn.

A closeup of the scarf--horizontal herringbone. I really like how this looks. I will be equally glad when I finish since it is knit on size 3 needles. I'll post final measurements when its done.

Here is the latest purchase of yarn---Peaches n Cream worsted. The far left color is for my grandmothers washcloths, the middle white ones are for my Dad's 'towel' and the 3 on the right are for a bathrug. And yes, my dad really wants a goddamn towel, knit by me. Well, we still are debating on the pattern to use and I'll probably start this next week. I really like the army tan on the far left and will use it for a sweater. I think that even if the color fades that it still will look great.

The last couple of days have been great weather-wise. We had some rain which was much needed since we have been 12" under. It also cooled us down alot. Work is hectic. SCAD started back this week and they have 1600 new freshman this year and I think that they all have come into the pharmacy to get their scripts transfered. I just hope that they hire a new tech for winter if not I might have to transfer to a new store because there is no use in me wearing myself out since Katrina can't do her job.

I'm heading to ATL next weekend for the Petty concert and am really looking forward to that. I don't know whether or not we'll be staying all weekend but hopefully by the latest we'll leave Sat late afternoon.

In knitting news, I have gotten my scarf pal's wants and desires for a scarf. I have been contemplating whether or not to make an entrelac scarf or a cabled one. Well its really all determined by which yarn I buy. I'm going to the yarn store either Saturday or Monday to pick it out. My pal is an international pal so I'll need to finish it quicker since it will take longer to get to her. Plus my knitting pace has slacked lately and hopefully I'll find a good tempo.

Wishing I was watching Agassi this week

Well I have accomplished something this week. I am almost finished this pink clutch from Handknit Holidays. Its for Hill's pal and I have to find a matching zipper. I hope to find one at Walmart when I go in a few minutes but I highly doubt that it will be there.

Here are those Hederas. I still really don't like them and yet proud of the fact that I did not frog them. These might just become house socks.

And these conquer alot of firsts for me---first toe-up sock and first magic loop knitted sock. Let me just say that it really doesn't feel like knitting a sock. I don't know whether it has to do with it being toe-up or not. I really need to research toe-up heels since if this works out nicely all my socks in the future will be toe-up. I am planning on making toe-up Jaywalkers!! and already bought the yarn for them. Its crazy that so many knitters have become addicted to that pattern. I love seeing all the new Jaywalkers--they look great even as one color socks. I also want to make the knitty cabled sock toe up that just was published. So cute. And I love those cables. Toe up socks also let you use up all the yarn with out guessing which I rely on especially in the start of a sock.

I have no special plans for the weekend. Hopefully that means lots of knitting.I am really excited about the Tom Petty concert in ATL in a couple of weeks. And more excited that I won't be driving.

Fashionably Late

Yes, by this picture I hope you can tell that I have acquired the Mason-Dixon book. And anyone who is getting a Christmas present from me, it will most likely be washcloths. I'm going to make I-cord from all that leftover sock yarn to wrap this babies up. The white one is a simple basketweave for my dad. He asked me the other day if I could make him a BATH TOWEL. Of course, I could make it, but if I did make it, no one would be using it as a bath towel.

This is the cabled trapper hat from VK Holiday 2005 I believe. I will be making one in cream when I finish this one. Hopefully the cotton is a little bit better on the Denise. The linen blend I'm using right now is pretty much a pain on these needles.
Alas, only 1 Hedera is finished. I WILL finish the other one before the weekend is over. Other than that, I am trying to finish some WIPs before the scarf exchange and so I can devote more time to knitting a sweater. Well, first I guess I should decide on a pattern. I am loving the cabled numbers in the latest VK.

I think I just got offered a job in politics, which I am super pysched about if the girl was being serious, which she better be. Hopefully I'll know more before the weekend is up. Plus it pays awesomely:) I would just have to transfer to another store that stays open more hours or just work PRN.

Lack of Motivation

Well I have worked on a couple of things lately---no pics today maybe at the first of the week. I am STILL working on my Hederas...its been a long project for me and I detest lace socks and will not knit them unless I am paid to. Its really that bad; I am almost finished decreasing for the foot so I am hoping to have them done by Monday. I also have been working on a scarf that has been in progress for a while. I just finished the first ball of yarn and have yet to start the second. I also did some stashbusting last weekend and made some flowers to use as brooches. My recent 'love-it' project is the trapper hat from Vogue Knitting winter 05/06. I don't think that I'll get much use out of it here in Savannah, but I am going to the Windy City in February to visit a pal. At least I can use it then and it will sit in my closet til I move to NC in a couple of years. And I will have my Michael Kors sweater DONE by the weekend. I am so sick of just seeing it lay there in a unloved heap.

For some motivation, I will be going to Red Needle tomorrow. I have not been since before I left for Asheville. I need a new winter project like a cabled sweater!! so I can wear it when it starts to get cold down here. I have at least another month of pure humidity so I'm not too worried about that.

I am in the process of joining the International Scarf Exchange. I love scarves and I really like how people interpret the perameters of your preferences. My sockapaloooza pal did a AMAZING job with the socks she sent me and I am dying to wear them.

Socks

This is from our trip to the Atlanta aquarium. I really enjoyed it but I thought that it would be bigger since its supposed to be the world's largest or something like that. I am really glad that we got there when it opened--there are too many kids groups there after 9:30.

This is my next venture of socks. Too bad you really can't see what we had to climb through to get there...a 2 foot opening on the ground...its really a photo-op for kids not tall people like us
Yet another photo-op
And this is the current sock project. Hedera from Knitty. I added I think 20 stitches to the overall cast-on after I got to the heel and realized that they wouldn't fit comfortably. So I am in the middle of the gusset and hope that I calculated right....If not they will still look good while on the foot.

I still feel like I'm in a knitting slump...especially after I checked the Summer of Socks blog and saw that an awesome knitter has already knit 10+ pairs...she is really awesome and fast. And way ahead of everyone else...

I still have a couple of projects in limbo. The Michael Kors sweater from Vogue that still needs the arm sewn and the crochet trim. The 1 rib and cable sock that is only to the heel. And various colors of accessory purses from Hand Knit Holidays in various stages of completion...I guess its just finishing that gets to me.

Well I probably won't post til next week. I'm going to Valdosta for the weekend.

Completed Summer of Sock # 1

this is a cameo that I got for my birthday...well it was mounted for me for my birthday... I brought over the purse that I had made for Laura during my vacation and she wanted it in black..Its from the Happy Hooker..Fat Bottomed Bag...I think.. I love this project its a 1-2 day project that looks fantastic...

I have been extremely buzy lately and super tired. I had planned to post the day after my birthday but I didn't manage to. I'm trying to get back to the speed of things that I had been at before my vacation so many projects to post. I'll try to post at least twice before the weekend and maybe even some vacation pics..

Hmm where to start...

Well today I received 2 free tires since while my car was getting fixed and test driven, the guy almost wrecked my car but swerved and popped 2 tires. And the guy that told me this was pretty cute as well.

Yesterday I went clothing shopping downtown at Gap and Banana Republic. After I tried on what seemed like a million jeans and sweaters I walked away with 2 linen cardigans, 2 tees, 3 pairs of jeans, and 4 panties. I am a little upset since every clothing manufacturer in America is catering to the obesity rise by making their sizing bigger. I realize that the average woman in America is a size 14 and 5'4'' but I'm not. I'm almost 5'10'' and 125 pounds. Normally I would be a size 4 but now I'm a size 0-2 and wearing size XS and S. I guess I have to graduate college soon since I'll have to be buying designer clothing and knitting everything else possible.

Oh, I almost forgot about my vacation. Well I spent $350 dollars and bought the following: green wrap dress from BR to wear on my birthday, navy and cream floral wrap dress, strapless blue and purple paisley print dress, pale yellow strapless/halter dress, 2 pairs of beaded slides in green and gold, Nine West tan purse, a pink and white bathing suit, 2 skeins sock yarn, Nicky Epstein's Knitted Flowers, extender kit for my Denise set, Magic Loop pamphlet, Addi Turbo needle in size 1 to attempt Magic Loop process, oh and 2 clay flowers for a necklace and a china pendant.

I did however start a sock for the Summer of Socks. I waited patiently for the 21st to come and I am almost finished 1 of them. Its a sock for Hill and its a Jaywalker in yellow and black. Hill informed me this trip that she doesn't want anymore socks. It threw me off guard I guess and maybe she doesn't like any of the ones I have made. Well that means more for me.

I also made a crocheted purse from SNB The Happy Hooker. Its a light green with medium brown bamboo handles and pretty soon a flower embellishment. I am alomst finshed sewing the Michael Kors sweater...I have 1 more arm to go plus the crocheted trim. I also have to finish my rib and cable socks. I'm to the heel of the second one. I'll post pics on Sun or Mon when Hill comes back from camp since she has the digi...

Dabbling...

I'm still here. I just feel a little tired and haven't been knitting as much as usual. I guess my knitting intensity will pick up when 'Summer of Socks' starts in a couple of weeks. Lucky me, I will be in Atlanta seeing the new aqaurium and yarn shopping in Asheville. Lots of road time to knit. Hopefully I will be able to knit a pair a week. Well we'll see. I met this one guy when I was knitting at work once and he told me that his sister-in-law can knit a sock in a day! I do wonder however if she was a fast knitter or sat on her ass all day and knitted. But still, its a phenomenal accomplishment. I can only hope that in 5 years I am a faster knitter.

I'm still working on the tunic by Michael Kors and I have the front and back done and 15 inches done on the arms. I am doing them at the same time and it seems to take forever! But I guess in the long run it does save time. I'm also attempting to stash bush a little at a time and have been making flowers out of them. I'm planning on buying some things off of amazon this weekend---knitting books especially sock books and a Tom Petty set and a 24 DVD set for my dad for Father's day. I have to use his credit card so I hope he doesn't notice!! I figure he won't really look at it if I buy many things off of amazon at one time.

Wowza

So this weekend, I think Saturday, I got my socks from my sockapaloooza pal. Wow these socks put my 4 stitch cable socks to shame. I was very excited to even get them---I love presents. Then I was amazed at the gorgeousness of the cables. They came all the way from the West Coast with chocolate. My socks are from the book 'Socks, Socks, Socks'--the Aran Sandal Socks to be exact. I will most likely be buying the book so I can make socks like these too.
My pictures don't do the sock justice but you get the idea...

In other knitting news, I have finished the back of the Michael Kors tunic, have gotten more than 7 inches done on the front, have gotten to about 3 inches on the other rib and cable sock. I had to buy more skeins of Sierra for my tunic because I was going to run out before I finished the front. I also bought the Stitch and Bitch The Happy Hooker to get back in touch with my crochet. I am very pleased with many of the patterns, especially for the purses. I also bought some Cascade for a purse to crochet and a bunch of bulky yarn in cream to make a cabled hat from VK Winter I think. I'll post pictures of them when they get interesting.

I started my new job yesterday and am excited that we get paid every week. That is a relief. I hate waiting for my check twice a month. I am also super excited about my trip to Omaha in a month for the College World Series. I have been waiting years for Dad to take us there. Hopefully it will be a wee bit drier out there than here. We just broke records this weekend. Savannah got slammed with 90+ degree weather all at once. I thought we were going to have a mild winter but I guess we couldn't escape. Its still not as bad as its going to get in a couple of weeks.

2 Posts in 2 Days?!?

Here are Hill's Jaywalkers. They look pretty identical to me and she really doesn't care I guess. I think I need to practice taking pictures minus my toes peeking in.

Last night as we were honed in to Grey's Anatomy, Hill looks over at me knitting on the Kors sweater and goes, 'Wow you sure did knit alot of that tonight!' I tried to explain that stockinette is relatively fast and easy to get through. But nevertheless, I am almost to the armholes of the back and got over 6 inches knit last night.

Today I am going to lay out and enjoy a day in the sun before I go to the yarn store and work.

Wow I should really update more often..

I can't believe how long its been since I've posted. I attempted to update last week but blogger was AGAIN having problems. I couldn't even get a post without pictures on here. Oh well.

I have been anxiously awaiting my socks from my sockapaloooza pal. She sent me an email a week or two ago assuring me that my own hand knitted socks would be coming soon. I am terribly anxious. My sock pal loved her socks (such a relief). I was paranoid that she for some reason would not like them especially since they were a fraternal pair.

I have finished one of my rib and cable socks and already wish that I had made the leg of the sock at least an inch or so longer. I did a different heel and toe on it since I added twenty stitches overall. I love it even though I won't be able to wear it til most likely October because its going to be so hot until then down here.

In other sock news, I have gotten to the toe of Hill's maroon and navy Jaywalkers. I took some time away from those socks so I could finish one rib and cable. I'll snag a picture when she gets home from school today. I think I am going to make Pomatomas with the celery sock yarn I had planned for rib and cable socks. I have seen alot of people's on various blogs and I think that its fantastic. It looks great in solid and variegated colors.

I just ventured to the yarn store on Saturday after taking my grandma to tea at Gryphon Tea Room and strolling along the stores on Whitaker. I am really excited because Mickey told me that I can get my tank surged so I can actually wear it somewhere. I also have fallen in love with Cascade Yarns in Sierra. I have attempted a knit with cotton before and I kinda hated it. This yarn I adore even though it is hand wash. I guess hand washing isn't that bad after all--I just have a stigma from when I was little and my mother telling me that I didn't ever want a closet full of hand wash and dry clean only's. Well her nightmare has come true. My closet has over half of those items, but oddly all for winter.

Anyways, the yarn is for a mindless yet captivating tunic sweater from the Spring VK. I adore Michael Kors and hope that one day I can afford a couple of his pieces in my collection. This sweater's alter ego is selling for God knows how much in finer retail establishments. Alas, for a mere 50 dollars, I too can wear a look alike that I made, not a knockoff that has tell tale signs that its a forgery. Plus, I can knit this anywhere since its mindless stockinette and gives me a break from sock knitting all the time.

I have jury duty this week and I can't bring in knitting which I think is outlandish so I will bring my Ann Coulter book that I still haven't finished and a collection of fashion and knitting magazines. I will have to go in town to Barnes and Noble at some point since on the island no one really sells a good selection. I am dying to get my hands on the newest magazine from the Martha Stewart empire. It looks fantastic. Who knows what else I'll find out there. I also am going to run by the yarn store because I want to look at the flower book by Nicky Epstein and the handbag book from her also and the Mason-Dixon book which I will most likely buy since I have seen numerous things I like in it with the preview. I might buy them though on Amazon to save some cash. I have to buy Lawrence a birthday present and a graduation present, and Dad's Father's Day present.

My latest venture has been to clean my room and this week polish the brass knockers that used to be on the door until my dad decided he'd rather have them off since they are dirty. So I'm polishing them and my grandpa is going to come over at some point when I'm done to put them on so I can show Dad that I actually do more than knit and shop in my spare time.

**I can't seem to get one pic deleted and I am not about to start over with the post so, one reading this blog and post will get to see not once but twice the picture of a rib and cable sock.**

Okay, or maybe I should say finally?? This is what I sent to my sock pal. Her socks, of course, a Savannah postcard , a felted pin in green since St Patty's is so big in Savannah, and a bracelet that I had bought a while ago and haven't found someone to give it to.

This is the Prairie Tunic from the latest IK. I love it but its too big for me. This one looks sooo good. I don't know what to do with it so I am going to wear it as a beach coverup I guess until I guess a few years down the road when I have a baby. I thought I should make the size next to the smallest size just in case because I didn't want it too small but I think that the smallest size would have totally worked for me. So I do have plans to make another one. Hopefully it will fit. If it doesn't, I will still wear it. I am planning on making it a little longer and the vents a wee bit shorter.

In other knitting news, I am on sock #2 of Hill's maroon and navy Jaywalkers. I started a pair of Rib and Cable socks for myself. One of these days, I plan to make the Nautillus pattern from the latest Knitty. I think it will look cute in my room since its a nautical theme

Mail-offs and Mayhem

I am so happy that its finally time to mail the Sockapaloooza socks... I am very anxious not only to recieve mine but that my sock pal likes hers. Well I hope that she LOVES them. In the little package I mailed a postcard, a felted brooch I had made, and a bracelet that I had bought for a gift but I haven't had anyone to give it to so I hope she likes it. I'll post a pic as soon as blogger decides to work...

Today, illegal immigrants across the country and fellow Hispanic supporters are striking. However, local Mexican food joints are still open. I think that this is highly humorous. I understand that they come over here for better jobs because our economy is a million times better than theirs. Today they are striking to demonstrate how 'priceless' they are to America and the economy. Well if our economy was like theirs, they wouldn't be running over our border for jobs now, would they? I do think that Americans need to adopt the work ethic of Mexicans. Americans are lazy and dumb.

If the government decides to deport the illegals, they should also do away with welfare. I see so many people in line paying with food stamps that are dressed to the nines in designer clothes, have weave, and their nails done. These people are not destitute or impaired and are fully capable to work somewhere. Welfare has been one of the worst things that have been started by the Democratic party. It is widely abused and it seems that no one really moderates where this welfare money is going.

Finally some pictures!!

Well this is a picture of my new fabulous haircut. This is the day that I had it cut and it will never look like this when I style it. Its sad, but its true. If I could style it perfectly I would only ask for wet cuts. I did cut off almost 5 inches and I feel so much cooler. I will have to straighten my hair everyday or hot roller it since my natural hair is curly.

This is another Jaywalker for Hill. She really likes striped socks so I make Jaywalkers for her since the chevron highlights the stripes very nicely. This is a winter color and I had been eyeing it for Hill and I actually got the last two skeins.

This is a painted bunting. Although its not knitting and I detest birds, its a pretty cool looking bird. I promise this is real and it was taken on my back porch. I love the colors.

Heres the unblocked prairie tank back from IK Spring 2006. I am going to try and block it today sometime. I hope. I can't wait to wear this and hope that it looks good and fits me since its size 3 needles.

This is the front of the tank in progress. I have almost finished the repeats and will most likely start the decreasing for the triangles tonight or tomorrow for sure. I hope I can have this ready to wear by Saturday.

These are the next wave of socks for my sister and me. The yellow and black stripes are for her of course another Jaywalker. The red and celery socks will be rib and cable socks for myself. I decided that I haven't made enough for me.

I haven't figured out another big project yet but I am leaning towards a blanket!! or the last sweater in the new Spring VK. Or possibly some pillows since I already have the inserts just laying in my room dying to be covered. I really want to make the sandals in the latest Interweave Crochet. I wonder if they are comfortable. I didn't post pictures of the watercolor Jaywalkers because I can't find them and plus I hate them.

I went to my brother's game yesterday and sold a clutch. Well I have to make it and the woman wants straps so I think I'll braid I-cords for a little strap so it will look elegant and not compete with the pattern. I left the game early because I really cannot stand to be around my mother. I should have moved to the next field to watch that game since I knew alot of the people on the team. I guess I would have had a better time.

Update with no pics:(

I am really excited for the next couple of weeks to hurry up and get here. Bob Dylan is comign to Savannah and I am super excited and already have tickets. When I went to buy them the lady asked me where I wanted to sit I didn't want to tell her it really doesn't matter because I will probably never sit down or find my seats. I'll either be talking to random people we see there or in the beer line. Then the next week I have jury duty. I have a good chance of not being picked since I have such conserative views. So hopefully I'll have some time off to hit the beach.

Well I have accomplished great things since I last posted about knitting. Today I have no pictures but hopefully I can find the camera and post them tonight or tomorrow.

I finished my grandmother's entrelac shawl. She loves it so much I fear she might frame it. I took it from her house to show the ladies on Monday night and she goes, "You're going to bring it back right??" She has shown everyone and told everyone that she hasn't seen since I gave it to her. It does make me proud. As soon as I get a picture of the shawl in action I'll post one.

I FINALLY finished the Jaywalkers in Lorna Laces Watercolor. I must say I am not impressed, in fact, horrified by the way the colors came out. Maybe I'll send them to my mother for Mother's Day since I won't see her that day or anytime soon and since she's got the same foot size as me. Last time I saw her she asked why I didn't knit her more things. Well now I'm sending her ugly socks. She should be happy since I'm not talking to her and still managed to send her handknitted socks.

Well in nicer news, I have finished the back of my lace tank and am close to half way done on the front. I love how it looks unblocked and unattached. This is sort of bad since its knit on size 3 needles. Still its a great pattern and very easy to remember. I hope to have it ready to wear next weekend.

I am also knitting a new pair of Jaywalkers for my sister. They are maroon and navy. I am just beginning the heel on sock #1. I also bought some yellow and black striping yarn that she had said that she liked. We call the colorway "Wake Forest."

I also bought some red and celery yarn to make the cable and rib socks from IK Fall 2005 or 2005 I really can't remember. I have to make them bigger so I will be casting on 80 stitches so hopefully these will fit. I tried 70 but they felt a little tight.

I'm still making clutches. I spend almost 30 dollars on zippers to finish all the ones I have made and the ones I still have to knit. They are quick knits and I get all kinds of complements on mine. I do want to make a entrelac scarf for myself probably using worsted instead of bulky yarn and do a couple of colors. I guess even one color would still be pretty.

Today I would like to focus on some non-knitting content.

I work in retail so I see way too many dressing really bad. I would like to emphazise the point of dressing with personal style rather than totally trendy all the time. Like today, I saw a girl wearing a tunic tank, knit bolero, and LEGGINGS with espadrilles. I must say that I L-O-V-E tunic tanks because I am a firm believer of modesty. I quit buying Lacoste polos because I'd move and an expanse of tummy could be viewed. I am not keen on boleros. Boleros accentuate the midsection and unless you are a sample size please use discretion. I cannot stand leggings. Maybe its because I wore stirrup leggings back in the day and that was a nightmare since I was so much taller than everyone. I walked 5 steps and my crotch was down to my knees.

Please focus on the girl on the far right wearing a jean bolero, yellow tank, and green capris. This is a cousin of one of my best friends in high school. It is St Pattys Day in Savannah but that is no excuse. That outfit believe it or not is worn by an almost 30 year old who in fact bought the entire outfit at one of the stores I work at. I about died when I walked in and saw her trying this on. I cried today when I came across this picture.

Trendy may be cute when you're younger but once you pass a certain age like 12 you should really stop. It just makes you look ridiculous. Age appropriate is a must when it comes to fashion. I hate to say this but look to the French they are perpetually chic. Please. I beg you.

Look at what I can do!!

Well this is the entrelac shawl I had been working on. I love it and gave it finished to my grandma yesterday. I was planning on giving it to her for Mother's Day but I just wanted to give it to her right after I finished yesterday after my class. I cut a ENTIRE skein for the fringe but she really didn't want a fringe because I asked after I cut and when I gave it to her. So I have like 100+ strands of wool/microfiber blend so I am going to make flowers out of them and hope that it felts well since I can probably make a ton. I think I am going to make pillows for my house using the entrelac method. I have a bunch of pillow my dad bought for me for Christmas that I want to cover in a knit something. My sister said she wanted an entrelac BLANKET---I just laughed at her.

In other knitting news, I have started the back of the prairie tank from IK Spring 2006 in a mauvey shade. I'll post pics of that tomorrow. I am about 8-9 inches in as of now and I hope to have 2 more before tomorrow. I have also started the Jaywalker that I had almost forgotten about. I'm not very far along on that but I hope(!) to be turning the heel by tomorrow. I bought a couple of skeins to make clutches out of and anticipate on finishing the ones I made on Monday or Tuesday whenever I find zippers for them. One of the girls is getting married that I work with and she knows that I knit and asked me to make a tank for her to wear to get MARRIED IN!! I am extremely nervous about this but she has picked one of the tanks in VK Spring 2006 I believe that it is #7 I don't have the magazine with me I left it at the yarn store yesterday.

WHAT?!?

The internet is such a great tool but it sucks when its not working and how am I to upload pictures of fantastic knitting when its not working??

Overwhelmed

Well its been a brutal last few weeks for me.... I'm overworked and super tired and I am getting a horrendous cold-type thing. Hopefully its not flu or anything worse since I am working 12 days out of the next 2 weeks...

I have gotten a fewe things knitted up--a couple of clutches in green, teal, white and yellow and am working on stringing beads to finish the black one for my grandma. I am also taking my entrelac class on Saturday and I'll post pics sometime after that.

On top of everything else I am planning a mini road trip to see a pal and hopefully I will not be staying in the same caliber hotel as last time.

Long time no updates....

Here is one of a Jaywalker pair with the yarn that I do not particularly like but I guess they are wearable.... I am planning on starting the other one tonight after I get home from babysitting.

In other knitting news I have joined the Starsky knitalong. If you haven't seen it go look http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTstarsky.html It looks fantastic but I won't be able to buy the yarn it looks like for a week or so. I also have been knitting many clutches and Hill's is awesome but she has it right now. I'm currently making a black one for my grandmother (with beads!!!--I haven't made something with beads knitted in but I've read enough how-tos today) and a white one. I have to make a dash for the yarn store sometime this week to pay for my class and buy materials. I still haven't decided on a color.

Hill is getting her liscence today or at least attempting. Hopefully she's going to get it so I don't have to run errands with her. We scored a babysitting job right down the street and Hill says that the little boy is adorable. I went job-hunting yesterday and low and behold I have 2 jobs (eekk). Ones at a resturant like 10 minutes away that I start tomorrow night at 5. I'm not sure whether I'll be in the kitchen doing expo work or serving. The other job I will start on Friday I have to be there at 9 for an employee meeting and then work til about 2-3. I pray that I will be able to juggle these jobs like I did Scandals and the christmas store. But at least it means money in my pocket for clothes, knits, and beer... St Patricks Day is rapidly approaching and I will need money for drinks and possibly a cab if Hill doesn't get her liscence. I also need to buy a parking pass for Tybee which is $$75 and paying with quarters just gets too damn expensive--its 15 minutes a quarter. And staying at the beach for an average of 5 hours I will be going probably 3 times a week til September and not including holidays so I'll only save 45-60 dollars but thats a whole lotta yarn...

And I just want to say that Duke has been overrated all season long. A freshman team beat them on Senior night in Cameron. That's why I love my Tarheels!!

Here is what I have been working on the past couple of days. It has been frightening and stressful to say the least--not the knitting of course. I stayed in a roach motel the night before last. We didn't have any extra money to eat so we ate chocolate covered graham crackers and popcorn. I didn't know that it was mandatory to stay down there so I didn't bring anything--no toothbrush, food, contact liquid. We called Lauras's cousin for him to spot us some cash but he didn't call. I can't wait to see his ass on St Pattys so I can tell him that I almost starved to death. Well we got home aobut 6 last night from Jacksonville and the first thing I did was take a shower and bruch my teeth like 5 times. Tonight I have to wash the clothes. I will never stay at a shithole like that again--there was a strip club in the same block as the hotel named Putty Katz.

Well here are pics of the knitting and what my sis does when she has the camera to herself

I don't know how she's related to me sometimes.....

This is the pink clutch from Handknit Holidays. I think its called an accessories pouch. I love it and this is my newest stash busting project.

This is the inside of the clutch. I am in no way a master seamstress so I am just glad to see it in there.

Here are some of the clutches in progress. I have finished the other half to the purply one and will sew it together today. I will probably finish the blue one also today. These things knit up so fast!!

The List

So I have determined a list of future projects (in no particular order):

Jaywalkers --some for me and some for Hill

Rib & Cable socks from Interweave Knits Fall 2005--I am buying a copy since I passed by the first time. From the list you can also probably tell that I love cables. I also have decided that my favorite colors for clothing right now are camel, cream, chocolate, black, red, navy and kelly green.

Well in knitting news my Lorna Laces is STILL pooling and I am about ready to throw the ball into the trash so I will be knitting something else in the meantime. Hill wants another pair of ankle socks and I need to get rid of some of my stash before I buy more yarn for future projects. I have a class coming up in March for entrelac that I missed last summer. The project is a shawl/really wide scarf thing and it looks great. I am going to give the finished piece to my grandmother. I have no idea what color it will be in. I am hoping for a gray or something subtle amybe even mottled.

No pictures today:(

I have frogged my newest Jaywalkers 3 times in an effort to control the pooling. Maybe I should just use yarn that has larger stripes. I did however compose a list of future projects. I'll post the list tomorrow but I'll need some chunky yarn, various sock yarn, and lots of Cascade 220. Of course its not all for one project.

Its kind of dreary today and I hope it rains so I wont have to wash my car for a couple of days its looking nasty. Plus the high today is 52. I just hope it warms up for St Pats since I will be wearing a dress.

Sockapaloooza's are Done!!!

Heres the finished picture of the Sockapaloooza socks for my sock pal. I have gotten to the foot of one and turned the heel of the other.

I seem to have misplaced a dpn. So I will have to manuever the sock not in use to work on the other one.

I am kind of disappointed that we don't have snow down here. Its snowing in North GA. I do hope however that it doesn't snow Thursday through Sunday in ATL since I am taking a quick trip to help a friend out. I feel as my friend waited too long to tell me and this week has to be the week to do it. I'm one of 3 people that knows about it and if I was in the situation I wouldn't tell her. Actually I would never be in this situation because I am careful and she is careless. I am so stressed out about it and she is as calm as a cucumber. Thats why I think she has known about this for a while.

Well I am sure to finish my Sockapaloooza pal's socks by the weekend. I will probably start my Jaywalkers and a pair of ankle socks for Hill before I actually leave. Pray for my patience!!

What was he thinking??

Well last night was probably one of the most watched basketball rivalries. I was extremely excited to watch since the Tarheel team is doing great for being a freshman team. Last night I think it was the first time in basketball history that the first string was all white boys and the second string was all black boys. We went over to my grandparents house and made them dinner and then watched the game. I was in a panic throughout the entire second half. I can't wait til next season when the players have a little bit more experience and don't make missteps in the last minute of the game. I can't believe he missed that shot and no one tried to take a three. Well there is always next time at Cameron on the fourth. If they happen to win that one I will most likely have a heartattack from sheer happiness.

Last night at dinner my grandmother was talking to me about my knitting and if I had taken any classes. I told her yes and I'll be taking one in March. I was describing it to her and Dad was looking at me like I am crazy to spend all this time on knitting. What does he expect?? One day when I am married and pregnant what else will I be doing but knitting adorable things for my baby??

I have started my Sockapaloooza socks in the Sand Ridge. My sock pal mentioned that hot pink was not a desirable color and the other color has has hot pink that really stands out. I am a little frazzled how the colors have done. I have knitted up to the heel of one and will do up to the heel of the other tonight. If they are pretty much identical I will continue on with the heels. If not you might be able to hear me scream. I have already cast on and frogged these at least 5 times. I'll post pics tomorrow before work.

I have also been tagged so here goes

4 jobs I've had
cashier at a cafe
hostess/food runner
babysitter
retail sales associate

4 movies I can watch over and over
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
A Christmas Story
Caddyshack
National Lampoon's European Vacation (I love Chevy Chase!!)

4 places I have lived
Savannah, Georgia
Pembroke, Georgia
Claxton, Georgia

4 favorite TV shows
Hannity and Colmes
Criminal Minds
NCIS
Law and Order

4 places I have been on vacation
England
Italy
Switerland
almost every state east of the Rockies

4 websites I visit daily
Facebook
Fox News
Hotmail
my site ;)

4 favorite foods
manicotti
tiramsiu
scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, and wheat toast with strawberry jam!!
crab cakes

4 places I would rather be right now
Greece
Switzerland
Aspen, CO
Cabo

Baby Steps, Please...

I ventured to Wild Fibre yesterday. And surprisingly I was acknowledged. I had decided to make my Sockapaloooza pal socks made from Lorna Laces and I have picked out the following 2 colorways. The one on the left is Watercolor and Sand Ridge on the right. I am planning on makign Jaywalkers from them and have not yet decided on which colorway for my sock pal. I am leaning on the Sand Ridge and will probably go that way since I just made a blue pair of Jaywalkers for myself.

In other knitting news, I have made I estimate 20 -25 felted flowers to make into brooches. I think that I will put them in Dianes and see if they sell. I can only hope-- I know I can sell the green ones for St Pattys.

Yesterday Laura and I went downtown to lunch and looked in the new American Apparel store that just opened. I would just like to say that I love the store but I don't think that leggings are a good thing for men to wear. Every employee of the store was wearing leggings even the girl. I guess it was good that the guys looked anorexic so they could actually fit into leggings but it was a little weird. And one of them was telling me that ribbon belts tied as a tie would be a really attractive look. Nice gesture but I won't be caught dead in a tie. I'll stick to polos and tube dresses and tunic tanks.

I feel incredibly old today. My lil sister got her braces off today, six days after her birthday. I took some pics of her and this is how she reacted.

Her teeth are getting cleaned tomorrow Thank God! hahaha

In this one you can't even see her teeth. I really am beginning to think that she has a problem.

And lastly the small animal look. Maybe I should tell her that people are carrying small pets not looking like them. She looks like a rat.

Well these pics capture Hill's essence I guess.

Jaywalkers!!

I've finished the Jaywalkers but I think I missed the deadline... Oh well they are awesome.

I made a knitted bead the other night but the detail doesn't really show up in the picture. I'm planning on making a bracelet. I can use up wee bits of stash yarn for this and make different colored jewelry. My first attempt is going to be natural shades.

I am also going to make the felted wine bags from Handknit Holidays to use for pen holders and toothbrush holders for Hill and me. This will use up some stash wool.

I have read in a variety of places today on the web how people are wondering why Cindy Sheehan was arrested. The woman is just trying to get attention. There are rules about wearing the kind of t-shirt she was wearing and she just decided to try and make news. Yes, I too feel sorrow for those fighting for our future safety in this country. I have friends and family members overseas. I do think though that she is an idiot and I cannot believe how the media is giving her the satisfaction of being in the news.

I was watching the local news last night and police have arrested a man in connection with the Jennifer Ross murder which they are charging with murder and aggravated assault. Her godmother was interviewed and said that Mrs Ross feels not only for her daughter but for the young man because he must have not had the love and support that her daughter had had. Why can't Cindy Sheehan be like this?? She can be supporting the USO or something productive other than trying to get her name in the news.

This is from a sweater that Laura gave me. Its awonderful varying pink and a cotton/wool/nylon/angora blend. So soft and destined to become flap top mittens.

A present for Hill. Its just a felted clutch but she had said a while ago that she wanted one in these colors. The motif turned out rather nicely and I think that I will make one for myself. I used stash of Lamb's Pride Bulky. I do think that I am going to felt it again so its a little bit sturdier but the stiching is not completely lost. I don't like felts like that.

rom Handknit Holidays. I did a different cuff puff stitch I think with a rolled edge from Knitting over the Edge. I also did a rolled edge for the flap. These mittens are a quick knit like socks and use up my stash yarn. This yarn is leftover Knitaly wool. The left one is almost complete I just have to finish tucking in all the pieces of yarn.

Well for this week I am finishing my Jaywalkers. I am done one sock and to the heel of the other. I feel that I have been neglecting it. I also joined Sockapaloooza and will buy yarn this week when I get the specifications for that. I am planning on making some flowers, ankle socks for Hill, and 2 flap top mittens for the next string of projects I also have a huge ball of yarn that I don't like that I dont know what to do with. I have already used the yarn for a garter st scarf that I gave away. So hopefully I can find something useful for it. I can probably make 3 scarves out of it. The ball is about the size of a medicine ball of worsted weight.

I'm excited because this week Hill turns 16. Shes been upset because we haven't gone looking for a car yet and there hasn't been any talk about one. We do have one. Well she will be really excited. I am going to buy her a pair of earrings and I have a shirt for her in addition to the socks and clutch.

Its been extremely warm and right now its overcast and rainy. I can't wait til St Patricks Day. It the next major holiday especially in Savannah. I don't care too much for Valentines Day but I better be getting a heart shaped doughnut from Krispy Kreme. I wonder if they'll have shamrocks for St Pattys and rabbits and chicks for Easter. That would be awesome.

I need to find some health insurance and have been scouring. I think I'm going with Blue Cross. Dad and Hill have it and its a good program and I desperately need these moles to be removed because they are discolored and possibly cancerous.

Our neighbors across the street are spying on us. They are friends with my grandparents neighbors and they must be sitting in front of their windows watching us all the time. Don't they have something better to do with their lives than watch our house night and day?? I mean get a damn hobby!!.....Hopefully I'll have some pics to show on Wednesday of progress of the Jaywalkers. Maybe they'll be finished!!

Sock update

On my left leg we have the Jaywalker. On my right the wide wale rib. I have decided to keep the Jaywalker for myself because alas they probably will not fit Hill. So I will give the wide wale rib pair to her she really likes the stripes. I also like how tan my legs look especially in the middle of January!!

These socks I really like. I am doing a different cuff--a more decorative cuff. Like most things its wool--Knitaly to be exact. Hopefully I can finish them before Tuesday, maybe even Monday since they are a pretty quick knit.

As you can tell my posts are askew probably since I really don't know how to operate computer editing very well. Maybe one day I'll improve.

I am excited to see the Interweave preview has many cabled patterns. I will hopefully be making the cabled sweater from Vogue Fall 2005 the one with the ribbon and super chunky yarn--just as soon as I locate my copy. If not I found a cabled grandpa sweater in a pattern book I picked up the other day complete with pockets on the front.

My sis left today for the weekend to spend with her church group in Orlando. I don't know what to do with myself. At least I won't be her taxi this weekend. She gets her liscense in 3 weeks or so. I literally cannot wait.

I'll post the weekend knitting on Tuesday since I will be watching Luke play Armstrong on Monday and Hill has the camera.

I'm sick so I'll post when I can actually breathe and not be woozy when I leave my bed...
I have finished the Log Cabin Socks and almost finished one Jaywalker

Socks!!!

Heres Hill's Jaywalkers in progress I started them last night. It might take me more than a week to complete these since I don't want her to know about them since they are one of her birthday presents. The yarn will hold up for the times that Hill wears them and she'll love the colors. I can't wait til I finish them because the yarn is a nylon/acrylic blend and I am a yarn snob. I guess what matters is that she will love them.

Heres the start of the start of my Log Cabin Socks from Handknit Holidays. I can't get enough of this book. It is by far my favorite book. I love the cables and the fact that its worsted.

I am also making Hill a clutch for her birthday its aqua with lime and navy accents, Lambs Pride Worsted. I need to start the flap-top mittens for Moms birthday on the 20th, my other wide wale rib sock, another pair of ankle socks for Hill from the sweater I frogged and flap-top mittens from that same sweater.

I went downtown yeaterday afternoon and even in daylight I am terrified to walk around. Many things have been happening around Savannah lately. Many people are getting shot, mugged, and attacked especially in downtown areas. I think all of these people have been white, and being attacked by blacks. City officials held a forum over the radio to try and discuss what can be done to make the streets safer. The mayor and interim police chief walked into the room and walked out refusing to be apart of the forum. Both of them are black and the other officials were white. The mayor stated that he thought it was just going to be him and the police chief in the forum. Understandably he does not realize that he is uneducated and a forum is a meeting in an effort to exchange views. Views. Not views of 2 black men that haven't done a thing to try to get cops on the street and drug and gang influences off the street. He also thinks that its wrong for white people to gather after heinous crimes against us have been committed. White people don't gather when blacks are shot down here because its one more day that one of us isn't getting shot. Our tourism is going to be affected--I already was asked earlier this week when I worked about how safe Savannah really was even during the day time. I couldn't give the woman an answer. I am terrified to go downtown and be shot at stepping into a cab when leaving a bar. I think that Savannah needs a new mayor and police chief. If not it could lead to a race riot. I don't want Savannah on the news just like New Orleans with their highly intelligent mayor and governor.

Until then I am choosing to venture downtown only when needed to shop and my rare work schedule and will sit and knit, eat honey sticks and exercise.

Finally Pictures!!

Here's my first pair of Jaywalkers....

For starters I love the pattern and realize why everyone in blogland has been making them. Its a pattern that you can memorize and doesn't bore you. I finished my pair on Friday. Today I'm going back to the yarn store to pick out some yarn for a pair for Hill that I can give to her on her birthday and probably some for another pair for me also.

Last week I realized that I make numerous socks but only have one lonely pair made for me. I love that book--- so many fantastic patterns.

Bear with me on updates we are remodeling alot of the house and I have to set up the computer in a different spot almost everyday.

A new year

A new year has started. This year I hope that I can remain focused with school, exercise more and manage my money better. I also plan to blog more.

I completed my raglan sweater but I hated how it looked on me so I frogged it. It is soon to become ankle socks and mittens.

Right now I am working on my first pair of Jaywalkers. I now know why so many people are making these and can't stop. I love them. I have finished one and will finish the other one tomorrow. Then I have another pair of ribbed socks to get started on. I have only made myself one pair of socks and am in dire need for more because I refuse to buy them since I can make them. I'm going to make Hill a pair for her birthday. I am also going to make Mom a pair of flap top mittens for her birthday in 2 weeks in chocolate with a cream cuff. Nan also wants a pair but they will have to wait til I find another j-o-b.

I called work today to get my sced for the rest of the week since they had left me a message about it. To my dismay, Connie informed me that I was not going to be working for the next 2 weeks. I have to go in to personalize these Byers dolls for this lady. When I told her that I would be stopping by tomorrow to do it she told me that Karl would be working day and Deb at night. Deb's a nice lady but I have been working there since May and she started about a month or two ago. I just don't think that its fair that she gets shifts before me since we are closing early due to the lack of tourists. Tomorrow I am going to go in when Karl's working and turn in my key since I am not putting up with this bullshit any longer.

So with the start of a new year I will be starting a new job as soon as I find one. Pictures next post later in the weekend and a list of projects for must-knits this year.

Pictures

Christmas was great... I got most of the things I wanted and Dawn's was boring as usual....

I've been doing some stash busting I made some flowers and a new pair of mittens for Hill from a sweater I ripped apart. I'll finish those at work tomorrow. Hopefully I can whittle down my stash so I can buy a whole lotta Lorna Laces sock yarn:)

I am STILL working on my button up raglan but I am close to finishing. I just have to make button holes and pick up stitches for the collar then block it out again. Its in a big pile and extremely hard to photograph in the state it is in.

I'm really excited because I got the Denise needle set I have been wanting so I really only need to buy dpns now.

Winter Blues

Well this week is almost here. My grandpa went into the hospital this weekend and I didn't really do much in lieu of this. My dad informed us that our New Year party will be nonexistent since my cousin is having one since she will be moving January 15. Why can't she have a party that week?

My dad still has yet to start Christmas shopping which has me stressed out big time. I want a Denise needle set and they don't sell them in Savannah and I would also like some Vineyard Vine polos which are normal sized polos and will not shrink like Lacostes. Even Polo's polos are shrunken...Not every girl in America wants to expose the stomach every time she moves--that trend is over!

I did however complete the other sleeve to my raglan sweater and will hopefully be sewing that
tonight. Then I will have to pick up stitches everywhere to complete the collar and button placket. Right now I am furiously knitting up my stash into cute little flowers that I will convert into brooches and sell somewhere.

I also need to learn how to sew zippers. I guess I will have to run out to a fabric store for that after the holidays.

Merry Christmas!

Finally some updates!!!

Well I found the digi and took pics on all the things I have been working on in the last week. I still am sewing my sweater together and have gotten as far as one sleeve attached to one side. Well I can do more at work tomorrow. I am also knitting another clutch for Hills pal but she picked out some horrid colors. Think medium pink and mac and cheese orange stripes with pale yellow i-cord flower.. I hope it looks better than it does in progress. More stuff in the next few days I am pooped....

Green Cascade 220 clutch pre-felting with shamrock motif
Red Cascade clutch pre-felting with star motif
Cabled mittens in a unidentifiable wool blend--They look like the mittens and gloves found in all GAP stores without such a large rib.
Flap top mitten in progress 5 dpns and a cable needle holding the flap stitches. Not a seam yet hopefully by the weekend. I'm going hunting for buttons on Thursday.
-flap-top mittens for Kathryn's sis
I actually haven't started these yet but will tomorrow. They will be a lovely pale green wool.
-felted clutch for Hill's pal. Lamb's Pride Worsted navy and lime. This is halfway done and I will felt tomorrow when I wash my clothes.
-pink and orange felted clutch for another of Hill's pals. I haven't even bought the yarn for this one yet!! But hopefully by Friday.
-ankle socks in teal wool. Yes wool again. Anything different, maybe a splurge for some cashmere one day. Well I still have to finish one, but I'm almost to the toe.
- major stashbusting is in need. Especially since the new Knitty is out. I'm planning on making the Creatures (oh so cute!) but just stuffing them with fluff and giving them out. They remind me of the Monsters Inc characters or something.

I bought the Vogue Knitting today since I have fallen in love with the bobbled sweater with ribbon detail. I've seen a copy and oogled it for long enough. Its my next sweater project. I also saw the tunic in a shortened version to create a poncho and I might say that I might actually wear it even though it is a trendy item. I also want to knit a Clapotis and so many more things including a cabled scarf. I'll post some pics as soon as things are completed.

One more picture

Well I got some knitting done at work last night since we were really slow and I only sold one thing... This sweater has knit up fairly quickly. I finished the right side this morning watching some tv. Here are the front pieces blocking. I am working on an ankle sock still and if this works out I am going to knit like 10 of these since they are so quick to knit. I still have to find some buttons for my sweater I'm going to look on Saturday before I got to the movies with Lawrence

Long Awaited Pictures

Well its been a hell of a week.. Its getting dangerous just to step out of your house in the SAV--all these burglaries and shootings. Diane's thinking about closing at nights just so we are safer but I do have to work tonight so I guess she has decided against it.

I have finished one exam and have 3 to go. The easiest will be Psyc because thats all memorization. And Engl will be easy. I'm just worried about Precal as long as I make an 80 I'll be happy.

I have been working on my new sweater (#2) its raglan with buttons well we shall see. I have finished the back and it has been blocked and I have finish the left side which will be blocked in about an hour. I have one more flap top mitten to complete for the set since I had to make 4 instead of 2. I started a pair of ankle socks with some left over wool but have only done the ribbing since I had to study last night. I'm also doing some duplicate stitch on a red clutch that will most likely be a fleur-de-lis just because I love it. I'm going to felt it down to the size of a sunglass case I think that I will be able to sell more of those that way.

Flap top mitten for Hill --Knitaly wool

clutch to felt Cascade 220

This is the sweater shot.

I'd like to finish the right side of the sweater and the socks and the one flap top mitten before the weekend is over. I also want to make some more cabled mittens and ankle socks if I like this pair if not I'll give them to Hill.

For my next project I want to make the intarsia pillows out of Handknit Holidays for the house. I absolutely love these. I also want to make a Clapotis and some Jaywalker socks and maybe a v-neck sweater. I am trying to find which type of sweater construction I like best.

I am also really excited because I have gotten all of my Christmas shopping done. I bought Hill this cool glass bracelet and Dad a crystal scentier with a cranberry spice scent. I also have bought Dad a book for his birthday and Hill a pair of boots that she had liked.

The Agony of the last weeks of the semester....

Well my life has totally been consumed by work it seems for now at least. I feel as though I work all the time...I have not had a day off since I went to Chapel Hill. I even had to work on Thanksgiving. All I can say is that I cannot wait to reap the benefits of my college degree that will come around in the next 5-6 years. Its a long wait but I can make it--I just have to keep my eyes on the prize. I sound like an inspirational sports film. I have registered for classes and have decided to CLEP Engl 1102 and Spanish 1 and probably Principles of Microeconomics in an effort to save some time and money.

I made a trip to the yarn store--the unusual cold weather down here has had me craving another sweater. I picked a rather plain pattern the button down cardigan from VK Fall '05. It is a lovely shade of blue not quite robins egg but not pastel in wool of course. I also picked up an extra set of dpns for some socks. I am attempting a pair of ankle socks just by modifying a basic sock pattern. I picked up some Cascade for a couple more felted clutches to make in the down time. I have also made a couple of flap top mittens from the Handknit Holidays. I have 2 right ones because I forgot to change the flap so Hill has a pair to give to a pal for Christmas--one she doesn't mind matching since its the same colorway. I love that book I will be making projects from it all year round. I have also been tying in loose ends for some projects that have been put aside since I hate finishing projects. I finished a pair of socks for Hill, her duck, 3 Pasha penguins, a pair of cable mittens for myself, and this ugly yarn scarf I donated to Hills presents for friends. I'll post pics as soon as I can locate the digi.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

UNC Pics

Dad, me & Hill waiting to enter Dean Smith Center--I suck at taking pics of myself with people I guess deep down I'm a narcissist.

Hill and I in Dean Smith Center about an hour and a half before the game--This pic was taken from our seats...Lower level mid court 7th row baby!!!!

Hill and me like 2 hours before the game

And of course we had to go to Duke to check things out and buy some stuff for Lawrence for Christmas

This is a random statue we saw...Hill wanted to get a pic on top of it but it was visitors weekend and there was a group coming so I ran off

The boys were practicing so we couldn't go inside Coach K court
Another pic at Duke--as you can see it wasn't that cold out like 65 degrees but I had on my Carolina shirt so I felt the need to keep the North Face on and sweat it out---literally

I made a set of flap-top mittens from Handknit Holidays but I think that my color selection on this pair was horrendous so I frogged it and will start a new pair tonight. Hopefully it will be cool enough in Chapel Hill to wear it this weekend.

As of now I have finished another clutch to be felted and motifed. Tomorrow I will start a hat and cosmetic bag from Holiday Knits.

Hopefully by this weekend I will have at least started the flap-top mittens from Handknit Holidays and bought the yarn for the aran stockings.

I probably won't post again til next week I have an abundance of school work that is due soon and need to get on the ball with that. Also I will be out of town this weekend to see the new Tarheel basketball team up close and in action. We are also hoping that we can meet Dean Smith and Roy Williams. One can only hope I guess...

I need to start working out again. I have started a pilates video but I realize that I am desperately out of shape and the pattern I have started of eating out all the time is going to start catching up to me quickly.

Pictures

Well here are some pictures of ongoing and a few finished things...

Hill's socks--they are a little messed up and they look weird when they are not on feet.
